Since we left Rockport, we’ve moseyed up the middle of America, visiting family along the way. A stop in Austin to visit Miranda, and then on to Dallas where we saw my brother Jim and nephew Thomas…
… and an overnight stay with Kate’s Uncle Charlie and Aunt JoAnne-
From there we set the cruise control and moseyed on some more. We’re keeping the speed low ‘cuz of the small trailer we’re towing, so it’s just a matter of keeping the rig between the lines as the states roll under our wheels.
Our biggest challenge right now is adjusting to a different pace. Well, to be honest, it’s more Kate’s challenge- I’m pretty much rollin’ with it. ( I took TWO naps yesterday!)
Most of you who know us know that our ultimate goal on this adventure is The Tropics™– coconut palms, turquoise lagoons, hammocks, drinks with little umbrellas in them…
But this first leg is all about visiting friends and family as we make our way to the new boat. So we are here in Willmar, Minnesota, visiting Kate’s huge extended Wodash clan. They are good folks, and I love the visits I’ve made here in summers past.
Many of you know of my… ummm, … “intense dislike”… of cold weather. So you may understand my… ummm, … “delight” at the forecast for this weekend-
Kate and I went shopping yesterday for cold weather clothing, because New England will be just as much of a challenge for this Texan. (I even bought a new, bright red Union Suit for pyjamas- I’d post a picture of me in it, but the magnificence of this article of clothing would likely burn your retinas).
So, we’ve stocked up on supplies, and Ma Wodash is baking oatmeal cookies as I type this, so we just might survive this assault on my dignity.
More later, with pics of snow!
Yup, springtime in Minna Sota! Of course there summers are a lot nicer than Texas’. 😎🐴🦄👨🌾👩🌾
